Derek Jeter Reminisces Over Last Game at Yankee Stadium

A Yankee legend

The MLB playoffs may be on and popping right and unfortunately, Derek Jeter isn’t on the field playing in his last year. The New York Yankees didn’t make the playoffs for the second consecutive year (the first time for that), but it doesn’t mean The Captain isn’t happy with how things ended. His last play at Yankees Stadium was epic and was a great way to end such a storied career.

Last night, Derek visited Jimmy Fallon and spoke on that great moment, but even funnier, he explained why Jimmy’s reaction to it all was so funny, considering he sits right behind home plate. The camera time will live in history now, thanks to Jimmy’s awkward clapping and fandom exploding in nervous excitement. Pure hilarity.

The Captain did say that the last game (and his farewell season, for that matter) was a lot like watching your own funeral, the way it all went down.

Even though it hasn’t happened yet, Jeter also talked about his place in history with many records broken and what it would be like if the Yankees retired the No. 2.
