Washington Redskins Land Star Wideout DeSean Jackson To 3-Year, $24 Million Contract, With $16M Guaranteed.
Last week, the Philadelphia Eagles released their 3-time Pro Bowler DeSean Jackson on alleged gang affiliated suspicions; which obviously wasn’t the case in their failed trade attempt last month. Monday afternoon, DeSean visited Washington with the San Francisco 49ers waiting in the wings; but unfortunately for the Eagles fans, he officially inked a big contract with the Redskins making him the highest paid wide receiver this off-season.
The Cleveland Browns were also in the mix like San Francisco, but the $16 guarantee and playing with RG3 in a new beginning (not to mention playing against the Eagles who he’ll want to play this season twice) was the deal maker. He now joins a heavily upgraded receiving core of Santana Moss, Pierre Garcon, Andre Roberts, and Leonard Hankerson, which we’re expecting to give Robert Griffin III more breathing room now running the play action. For a team that finished worst in the NFC and no 1st-round pick for the upcoming draft, they stuck gold landing Jackson. Check after the jump for more on the big free agency acquisition story.
