“As far as me being affiliated or me being a gang member. Never not have once been.“
All-Pro wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been involved in a midst of controversy the past few weeks, all thanks to reports from Philadelphia that he involved in gang activity and affiliation. As a result, he was released by the Eagles and he turned around and signed with NFC East rival Washington Redskins.
In speaking to Stephen A. Smith in the latest SportsCenter Conversation, DeSean denies any and all gang affiliation and attributes those allegations to his past growing up in Los Angeles, California and bad decisions he made early in his career. He doesn’t deny knowing people that are involved in the gang lifestyle, but he says he’s matured and stopped surrounding himself with negativity.

Interestingly enough, Stephen A. Smith quoted an anonymous source within the Eagles squad, saying that DeSean was cut —not because of his gang ties— but because of his selfishness and attitude problem that thought he could push Chip Kelly around.
The plot thickens.
