DirecTV + MLB ready up 4K this spring!
With 3D technology failing in the mainstream this decade, we assume the latest invention to stop cord cutting is sports in 4K. DirecTV, now owned by AT&T, has announced a new deal to deliver up to 24 Major League Baseball games in 4K this season. The first live broadcast happened earlier this weekend, with a rivalry game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants.
However, both sides plan to offer up three more games before the end of the month – including the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals on April 19th, followed by the New York Yankees and Boston Redsox on April 29-30. With the provider already airing Tennis games and On-Demand movies in 4K, this transition to the diamond will hopefully open the floodgates for an NFL and NBA Ultra High Definition expansion. Will 4K sports be the Trojan horse for you to purchase a new HDTV?
