Doc Rivers Agrees to Multi-Year Extension with Los Angeles Clippers

President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach, Doc Rivers to remain in Los Angeles through 2019.

Last summer, Doc Rivers agreed to a 3-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. In his first year away from Boston, Doc led the Clippers to a Pacific Division tile (57-25 record), but the team’s season was overshadowed by the racial comments made former owner Donald Sterling.

Rivers and players came up just one win shy of reaching the Western Conference Finals, and even threatened to boycott the team during the playoffs last spring. While the team managed to hold their composure, Commissioner Adam Silver handed Sterling lifetime ban from the league; and forced him to sell the team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

Now with the franchise moving forward to training camp nearing a few weeks, Doc has signed a new 3-year extension to keep him in L.A. through the 2019 season. The team, and more in particular Chris Paul will be looking to erase their heartbreaking game four loss last year to the Oklahoma City Thunder, where they blew the game.
