Donte Whitner Releases “Legal Hitner” Shirt In Protest Of NFL Fines

Here is a hilarious way to get back at the NFL. San Francisco 49ers safety Donte Whitner came up with a clever idea today, after the NFL fined him $21k this past week for an “illegal hit.” As a form of revenge, he released brand new merchandise in conjunction with clothing brand Another Enemy, with the words “Legal Hitner” across the front.

The first thought after seeing this is that Roger Goodell has to love this…… (not really, at all actually), but there’s really nothing he can do about it. The NFL has been cracking down, maybe a little too hard, on defensive players in order to make the game safer lately, but the reality is that it’s football and the game is meant to be violent on purpose. Those big hits we used to see are becoming extinct now.

Check out the shirts after the jump and if you feel like supporting Whitner, cop one of your own right here.

UPDATE: Donte Whitner is planning on dropping the “W” from his name and legally change it to Hitner, but due to the government shut-down, the process has been delayed.
