Coach K and Duke sure aren’t playing around. Recently, the Blue Devils sent waves around the college basketball scene when they locked down two top 5 prospects for next season. The recruits are Jahlil Okafor and Tysus Jones and they did something that is rarely seen in college bball. That is agreeing to join forces and both commit to a school as a package deal of sorts. The last time anything like this was seen was when Greg Oden and Mike Conely both committed to Ohio State out of the same high school.
When Okafor and Jones suit up at Cameron Indoor Stadium next season it won’t be the first time they have been on the floor as teammates, as they were on the USA squad together as early as 2010. This move basically certifies Duke as a major national title contender even with a near certainty that top recruit Jabari Parker bolts to the NBA after this season.
So even after the major recruits from this season head to the NBA next year there will be plenty of interesting talent to keep an eye on in the college ranks.
