Edwin Encarnacion’s Walk-Off HR Helps Blue Jays Advance to ALDS

OCTOBER BASEBALL IS HERE!

The Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays were pretty evenly matched throughout the season. Not only in their own season matchup (out of 19 times they played, Toronto won 10, Baltimore won 9), but also in the regular season. The two won 89 games to clinch a wild card berth.

With things being so close between the two, you know this one would end in classic fashion.

Jose Bautista opened up the scoring in the second inning when he jacked a solo home run to left field, but Mark Trumbo put the Orioles up 2-1 two innings later when he sent one out of the park down the left field line.

But the Blue Jays weren’t giving up at home.

In the 5th inning they tied things up at 2-2, when Ezequiel Carrera singled to center, bringing Michael Saunders home.

Things continued even for the next six innings until the incredible happened. Edwin Encarnacion stepped up to the plate and sent a walk-off home run out of the park in the bottom of the 11th. The crowd went absolutely ballistic.

The Blue Jays now move on to the ALDS and face the Texas Rangers on Thursday at 4:38pm EST on TBS. That should be another entertaining matchup.
