New York & Eli move forward for another run in the NFC!
Before the New York Giants travel to Arlington for a Sunday Night prime-time match-up against their arch-rival Dallas Cowboys, they’ve checked off the biggest task from their summer to-do-list. Eli Manning reportedly told those in private he wanted to become the highest paid player in the entire NFL, but immediately backtracked those statements soon after stories surfaced.
He also said that he didn’t want contract discussion lingering during the new season, as both sides came together to make a deal work out for all parties involved. The 34-year-old Super Bowl Champion, now receives a four-year, $84 million contract extension.
This would’ve marked the last year of his $97.5 million contract from 2009; as he wanted to properly get paid after a career season with a hindered core team suffering from health issues. His new deal now puts him behind Ben Roethlisberger and Russell Wilson, who received a long-awaited $87.6 million contract this summer.
