ESPN 30 for 30 Shorts: “Arnold’s Blueprint”

For the first official ESPN “30 for 30” web exclusive shorts in conjunction with Grantland.com, we’re shown a brief 12-minute film about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s teenage years in the Austrian Army. The primary focus in this 30 for 30 episode is in the early years of a young Schwarzenegger using the sport of bodybuilding as well as a mandatory military service that played a key role on his road to stardom and fame.

Directed by Jeff Zimbalist and Michael Zimbalist.

The 30 for 30 original series returns this Tuesday with “Broke” as we get a look at out how professional athletes experience fortune but then become bankrupt. Billy Corben (The U, Cocaine Cowboys, Limelight) paints a picture for the large epidemic of most athletes going broke within 5 years of retirement. This episode airs Oct. 2nd at 8pm ET (5pm PT) on ESPN.
