First year Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano had dealt with a lot his inaugural season as in the beginning of the season, he diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia. This would force him to take an indefinite leave of absence from the team as he would undergo treatment for the next 3 months. During chemotherapy, doctors had good news for all that Pagano’s cancer was in remission as some of the colts players and cheerleaders would save their heads in support.
During his leave, Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians would carry the team from the sidelines as the Colts managed to cap of the season with a guaranteed playoff seed in the 2013 playoffs. Pagano returned to the team last Sunday to watch the Colts defeat the Kansas City Chiefs. You can watch Pagano’s 2012 season story as he goes in depth with ESPN’s Rachel Nicols for their “Conversation” series.
