Despite United’s many struggles this season, the former champions saw a great amount of possession throughout the game, yet couldn’t break down the final stages of Everton’s tight defensive structure. The second and final goal of the game came from Mirallas during the 43rd minute, as a fast attack generated by Coleman found Mirallas, who finally put the ball past De Gea from a tight angle, with the United defence standing no chance.
Everton continue their fight in fifth with just one point between Arsenal, while United stay in seventh with a guarantee of no European football next season.
