Dallas Cowboys
– Retain offensive stars
– Capitalize on last year’s momentum
– Keep adding power players on defense
The Dallas Cowboys had a strong year last year, and almost made a full-on championship run if it weren’t for Aaron Rodgers and the surging Packers offense. Though they had much success last year, they could be without one of their new-age triplets on offense. Now that they’ve given Dez Bryant the franchise tag and are allowing DeMarco Murray to test free agency, it’s looking like losing Murray is a very real possibility. They don’t have someone equally good on the roster—and it’s not like Bryant isn’t a special player—but you can build around Murray more than you can build around Dez, and he doesn’t have any character concerns or issues with his attitude.
Aside from the impending loss of DeMarco, there aren’t a whole lot of issues in Cowboy Country, though they do have history fighting their chances of repeating as division champions. The NFC East scarcely has repeat champions, and with a team like the Philadelphia Eagles in the division, it’ll be a tough mountain to climb. They’ll have to build on last year’s successes and use that new-found confidence as a playoff team to continue their streak of dominance in the east.
Piggy backing off of the last point, they’ll need to keep adding more power to their defense as they definitely have work to do as a unit. The draft would be an ideal place to pick up some nice talent to develop, though they could probably a couple diamonds in the rough through free agency.
