Denver Broncos
– Balance the offense
– Improve running back core
The Denver Broncos were a powerhouse team once again last year, but their potent offense could definitely use more balance after the spiral downward in the second half of the season. They lack a star runner at the position and, especially since Peyton Manning isn’t getting any younger, could use a reliable running back to help balance things out on offense. C.J. Anderson did well for a stretch, but he still has something to prove as a workhorse back.
The have some young talent at the position, but it would be wise of them to pull the trigger on a hard-nose, veteran runner in free agency in order to bring some leadership and experience to the position. It’ll also give the young runners someone to learn from and while giving them time to grow and develop as NFL backs.
The offense will be top notch for at least one more season, now that they franchised their star receiver in Demaryius Thomas, who has had a really great couple of years. He’s a big-bodied, go-up-and-get-it receiver who fits with Manning like a glove. It was imperative they retained Thomas in order to keep a consistent weapon for Manning.
