We’re not even knee deep into the conference championships yet and there’s already been good action on the hardwood throughout today’s games. Most notably, Greensboro, NC saw a nail biter earlier for the second round of the ACC tournament in a game between the Maryland Terrapins and Florida State Seminoles.
With the clock running down and the game tied, Florida State found itself with a last second opportunity. After Okaro White drew the double team from the defense, he found the open man (Boris Bojanovsky) under the basket and he managed to sneak a two handed slam with 0.4 seconds left to give the Seminoles a 67-65 win over the Terrapins. It was an electrifying way to win the game, to say the least.
OS REWIND: Things To Watch For During NCAA Conference Championship Weekend
The game went back and forth for much of the second half, especially down the stretch when Maryland seemed to crawl back and almost put the dagger into the FSU with a dunk by Jake Layman to tie. That was shortlived when Bojanovsky clinched the win with a last second dunk of his own, sealing the deal and sending MU home.
Sophomore big man Bojanovsky ended the game with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while teammate Ian Miller had 17 points for the ‘Noles. On the other side of the ball, Dez Wells led the Terrapins with 18 points, 2 assists and 2 steals.
Florida States moves on to play Virginia in Friday’s quarterfinals, while Maryland ends it’s historic run in the ACC today. They will join the Big 10 next year.
