The Biggest Fight Of The Year Will Feature A Main Event Of Two Undefeateds In The Boxing World.
We may never get a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiáo due to blood testing, egos and most all money; but that doesn’t mean we can’t get the next big thing.
Moments ago, Money Mayweather made the official announcement of a September 14th fight at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Floyd said “I’m giving the fans what they want,” and he really has, for the time being. You can hit the jump for more details on the BIGGEST FIGHT OF THE YEAR!
I chose my opponent for September 14th and it’s Canelo Alvarez. I’m giving the fans what they want. It will be at the MGM Grand.

Floyd is back after his year layoff with a victory over Robert Guerrero 3 weeks ago to win the vacant The Ring Welterweight title and retaining his WBC Welterweight title. He showed apparent ring rust in speed not being able to properly train for a few months while in isolation lockup last year; but he managed to pull out the victory in a 12-round unanimous decision.
Earlier in the year, he signed a six-fight exclusive deal with Showtime and CBS networks as a farewell tour. Floyd’s not wasting anytime to wait until his final fights by stepping up to the plate to challenge his best suitable opponent and our personal pick in who he should fight in Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
Like Floyd, Alvarez is also undefeated and has been calling him out for quite some time; which his wish has now been granted. Fight details haven’t been announced yet whether Floyd will be traveling to 154 or Canelo dropping down to 147, but we should have them fairly shortly.
La cima esta cerca el 14 de septiembre habra un nuevo rey!!!#CANELOvsFLOYD May 30, 2013
Alvarez defeated Austin Trout last month to remain undefeated winning both the WBA Light Middleweight title and Ring Magazine Light Middleweight titles. He was rumored to have a fight set for Miguel Cotto or the winner of the Erislandy Lara vs. Alfredo Angulo bout next Saturday; but those plans will have to wait.
The 22-year-old Alvarez is one of boxing’s biggest names and could become the no. 1 fighter in the world with a possible win against Floyd. We’re guessing Floyd will move up to the 154 weight class to cater to Canelo, which could hinder his speed and endurance down the stretch, entailing for a ending some wouldn’t expect. Stay tuned for more news to surface.
