Former ESPN Writer Bill Simmons Lands HBO Show

This is the perfect platform for the troll of all trolls!

Whether you love or hate Bill Simmons, the always outspoken New England native always provided some of the best entertainment on sports television. Throughout his time on ESPN, he helped make the subsidiary platform, Grantland, nearly as popular as the main network. Whether or not main management at Disney was comfortable with their success, Simmons and Jalen Rose’s Grantland Hour soon gained a cult-following. It even saw Drake taking time out of his busy schedule to personally be featured on an hour-long conversation.

Earlier this summer, it was first reported that Bill would potentially be joining HBO for his own exclusive subsidiary imprint. HBO has now confirmed the rumors were indeed true, announcing both sides have agreed to an exclusive multi-year, multi-platform agreement. Simmons is set to premiere a talk show, we’re presuming centered around sports in the late night, as well as launching his own production company for the network.

Similar to his 30 for 30 series of sports documentaries, fans can likely expect video podcasts and exclusive interviews, to correlate with his forthcoming solo talk show in 2016. Although Bill was blindsided by his firing in May, his new situation is one of the best things to ever happen to sports.
