After joining the club in 2001, Frank Lampard has announced that he will be leaving Chelsea after a hugely successful 13 years. The midfielder, who is the London club’s all-time top goalscorer with 211 goals, was known to be out of contract come the end of the 2013/14 season, and is expected to join New York City for the remaining years of his career. During has time with the blues, Lampard has won a number of trophies such as the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Europa League, League Cup and many others, which have all arrived within the space of 649 appearances, following the initial signing from West Ham for £11m. The player will turn 36 in June, and like many others of his generation, the time has come for him to step back.
