Triple G vs. Special K!

In one of the more bizarre sports announcements of the year, K2 Promotions and Matchroom Boxing have agreed upon a deal that will allow for a super-fight between Kell Brook and Gennady Golovkin. At the moment, Triple G’s WBA (Super), WBC, IBF and IBO middleweight titles will be on the line, in his first ever London fight, this September 10th at the O2 Arena.

Originally, Matchroom Boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, was in the motions of finalizing a fight between Golovkin middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. However, Eubank got cold feet for a fight with the 22-straight knockout king and pulled out of that deal just a few weeks ago.

Hearn was also trying to complete a deal with Top Rank, for a welterweight unification fight between Brook and Jessie Vargas; but the Vargas side was demanding too much of the pizza. Well, the new undefeated vs. undefeated dream meeting set up for this September, with Kell moving up to the 160 weight to pull off an upset, is a big name fight many fans have been waiting for.

Our only concern for both fighters, is the lack of time to mentally and physically to prepare for the elite affair; which normally can take 6 months or more for a boxer to get conditioning proper.

After defeating Dominic Wade in April with a 2nd round knockout, then agreeing to a Canelo Álvarez fight for fall 2017 – all eyes will be on how GGG handles this bout. We’re just hopeful something in the works happens with Andre Ward, while both boxers are still in their prime years.

Let us know in the comments who you have winning this mega-fight.
