The Lakers defense was non-existant
The Los Angeles Lakers have started the season with one of the worst records in franchise history and the Phoenix Suns made it worse last night after their 112-106 loss, putting them at 0-5. At this pace, L.A. is keeping that Top 5 protected pick in next year’s draft, which actually belongs to the Suns. The Lakers had a chance to sneak away with the win thanks to Kobe Bryant‘s 39 point effort, but once again, it wasn’t enough.
The highlight of the night came off the bench from Gerald Green, who blew by the Los Angeles defense for two monster slam dunks. One one play, Isaiah Thomas found him for the alley oop and on the other, he deebo’d his way over Jordan Hill to posterize him nasty. Green ended with 26 points for the game, while Thomas had 22 of his own.
These two teams seem to be on opposite trajectories this year.
