In a game between two of the biggest teams left in the World Cup, Germany were only able to advance to the semi-final with a close 1-0 win against France. While Germany were holding a high line over the course of the match, France were the side put under huge pressure early on.
The first and only goal of the game was scored by Hummels during the 11th minute, with the Borussia Dortmund defender getting on the end of a free-kick and putting the ball past the keeper with a delightful header.
One of the biggest chances for France arrived in the last minute of added time, but Neuer was able to keep out a powerful shot from Benzema to end the game 1-0.
