With Germany expected to come away with somewhat of a simple win, their game against Algeria was a tougher task than expected, with the Germans finally earning a 2-1 win in extra time.

Much like we know from Neur, the goalkeeper made a difficult decision to come out of his area while Algeria were on the attack, but managed to slide the ball out of play. During the 16th minute, Algeria scored but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Despite several chances, it was 0-0 at the break.

The two sides continued to press within the second half, but no one could find the winner before the 90th minute.

Just one minute into extra time, Schurrle put Germany ahead after getting on the end of a low cross from Muller.

Approximately 20 minutes later, Germany doubled the lead with a goal from Ozil, who scored from a rebound of an original shot from Schurrle.

With just seconds remaining in the game, Djabou got one back by scoring at the back post. Despite this, Algeria had little time to find an equalizer, with Germany winning 2-1.
