Going into today’s Germany vs. Brazil match, everyone knew it was going to be rough for the host country, especially since Neymar and Thiago Silva would be out of commission. Absolutely nobody thought it would be a slaughter like this, though.
Germany netted one goal 11 minutes into it. Then another one. And another one. And another one. And another one. There was literally four goals in six minutes.
The entire stadium was speechless.
Thomas Muller scored his 5th goal of the tournament to start the game and the rest of the team ran away with it. And by that, we mean the sucked the soul of of the Brazilian squad, every fan in the stadium and the entire country in five minutes.
Oh, and Miroslav Klose made history by becoming the all-time leader in goals at the World Cup in the history of the tournament. Then the goals kept raining in.
This was only the first half, too. The goals didn’t stop in the second.
The attacks slowed down from the German side, but they still managed to put two in the back of the net. Brazil completely gave up. We’re not sure if it happened after the first goal, before the game started or after Neymar was carted off last game.
Either way, this was the worst loss in the history of the Brazilian national team. The last time they lost this bad was in 1920 in a 6-0 massacre by Uruguay.
Brazil finally woke up for the comeback rally too little too late, when Oscar got a breakaway to prevent the shutout in the 90th minute.
The jig had been up for 70 minutes, though.
Goodbye to Brazil. The run ends tonight.
