Eli Does It Again Connecting With Victor Cruz For A 77-Yard TD In 27-23 Win.
Sunday afternoon in East Rutherford, Robert Griffin III looked to put his team above .500 and raising his elite status with a win against the Giants but he would come up short. Things in this game didn’t get started until the 2nd quarter as only the Redskins would score a FG from 20 from Kai Forbath on a nearly 10-minute long drive.
In the 2nd Quarter, Eli would start to morph with leading his time down the field on a quick 4 and a half minute 76-yard drive highlighted by a TD rush from Andre Brown. RG3 would immediately answer back three minutes later with a 26-yard TD pass to Santana Moss to regain the lead at 10-7. On the next ensuing Giants possession, they would have to settle with a FG from 27 by Lawrence Tynes to tie the game at 10 all.
With the Redskins getting the ball back, RG3 would throw two back-to-back 30-yard passes to advance the ball to the Giants 22 as they would score another FG from Forbath this time from 43. With under 2 minutes left before halftime, Eli would lead the G-men down the field once more to Giants 21 as they would have to settle for a first down FG Tynes with time expiring to tie the game at 13.
Skipping all the to 4th quarter, because no teams got their offense going two interceptions from each team and first of fumbles from Skins for the day, New York would score on a quick 4-minute TD drive via interception on RG3 as Ahmad Bradshaw ran for a TD to give the Giants their first lead of the game.
For the next Skins possession, RG3 would lead Washington all the way to the Giants 27 as he would fumble the ball with Linval Joseph recovering for the turnover. Eli Manning would immediately throw an interception on the next play intended for Hakeem Nicks picked by Rob Jackson. Giants would capitalize with a quick 3 and kick on a 45-yard FG from Forbath to make the score 20-16 in favor of NY.
Giants would have to punt on their next possession as RG3 would have the runner-up for play of the game with a 30-yard deep pass to Santana Moss for to make the score 23-20. Not discouraged from RG3’s amazing drive, Eli Manning connected with Victor Cruz for a long ball pass for 77 yards to win game.
Giants now move back into the elite discussion taking sole control of the NFC East standings tied for 2nd place overall with the 49ers behind the 6-0 Falcons. Giants now travel to Cowboys Stadium to play Dallas in a game of the rivalry game of the week while the Skins travel to Heinz Field for inter-league play against the Steelers.
