Giants Improve To 6-2 To Overcome Late Cowboys 24-0 Rally

Cowboys Fall After Last Second Potential Game-Winning TD Ruled Incomplete.

As I predicted earlier, this would be the game of the day unless Peyton and Brees put up a similar ending to this one which was very doubtful. For this one, we saw America’s “favorite” QB, Tony Romo and the Boys of Dallas as they faced the Eli Manning’s and the Giants from the 6 borough.

In the first quarter, the Giants would get off to an early jump on the Cowboys with back to back FG’s by Lawrence Tynes. On the next ensuing Cowboys drive, Tony Romo would throw his 2nd interception of the game, which would set up an Andre Brown rush for a TD before the quarters end to cap off a 2-minute 31-yard drive.

With Tony Romo….being Tony Romo, the Cowboys would become victim of another three-and-out as the Giants would capitalize with another FG from Tynes, this time from 26 to make the score 16-0. On the very next Cowboys possession, Tony Romo would throw his third pick of the game, intercepted by Jason Pierre-Paul, as he scored a touchdown to bring the score to 23-0 virtually taking the life out of Cowboys stadium.

Before the half, the Cowboys would get their first scores of the game with a 4-yard TD run from Felix Jones for their first TD of the game followed by a 51-yard FG from Dan Bailey to bring the game back within striking distance.

In the 2nd half, Tony Romo would start things off leading his team down the field for a 86-yard drive, capped off with a 1-yard QB sneak to bring the score to single digits at 23-17. With the Giants having a quick three-and-out, they would get decent field position at their 41 with Romo taking advantage of the situation a few plays later with a short pass John Phillips to give the Cowboys their first lead of the game at 24-23.

Heading to the 4th, Lawrence Tynes would kick one for 43 to regain the lead for the Giants, finishing off a 60-yard drive that elapsed over 4 and a half minutes. With the Cowboys looking to answer back, Felix Jones would fumble the ball on their own 45 to give the Giants good field possession. This would later set up another FG from Tynes this time from 37 to give them a 5-point lead ensuring the Boys had to score a TD to win the game.

Down by 5 on the next Cowboys possession, Romo would lead his team down to the Giants 19 but would become victim of his 4th interception today this time being picked off by Stevie Brown for the second time this game. With 1 minute left, the Cowboys managed to get a quick three-and-out to the Giants as they had all of their timeouts left.

With .44 seconds left, Tony Romo along with Dez Bryant would lead the Cowboys down the field an 80-yard drive and even almost won the game on a fly pattern catch from Bryant but he was ruled out of bounds after a review from the referees ruling it incomplete. Tony Romo had three more shots at the in-zone but would come up short in his efforts to upset the Giants.

Things now get worse for the Cowboys, as they head to Atlanta to play the undefeated Falcons in a Sunday night prime-time game on NBC while the Giants go back home to MetLife and play the Steelers in an inter-conference match-up.
