A STUNNER IN UTAH
In a lopsided game that should have gone the other way (on paper), that 4-year $63 million contract Gordon Hayward signed in the offseason came to fruition tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers. After the Utah Jazz led the Cavs by as much as 16 in the 3rd quarter, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving clawed their way back in the 4th quarter, bringing the game too close with less than a minute to go.
LBJ actually hit a jumper to put Cleveland to within one point with 13 seconds remaining, fading away on a long range 3-pointer. the Jazz knocked down a few free throws to take the 3-point lead, then LeBron drew a foul on Derrick Favors and tied the game with three free throws.
With 3.4 second remaining, that set up the game winning shot by Hayward, who took a step-back duece from deep. The Jazz bench rushed to congratulate him on his buzzer beater while King James and the Cavs walker off the court hanging their heads in disappointment.
Cleveland now drops to 1-3 on the season, while the Jazz go up 2-3.
Hayward ended the game with 21 points and a few highlights, including a run-from-behind block on LeBron James and a crossover that left the King clueless.
