Gregg Popovich Throws First Subliminal Dart at Golden State Warriors

This Warriors vs. Spurs game needs to happen ASAP!

In 2014, the San Antonio Spurs put on one of the greatest performances in NBA Finals history, with their complete dismantling of the Miami Heat. While the team suffered from the injury bug last season and questionable calls from referees in their first round loss against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Spurs felt they didn’t get to properly defend their title – and rightful so.

This season, we’ve witnessed the emergence of the defending champion Golden State Warriors changing the landscape of the entire league, with their flawless three-point shooting.

One person who’s not a fan of the shooting, especially against his team, is San Antonio head coach, Greg Popovich. He spoke with CBS Sports this week about the change in league style and subliminally threw a few darts at their rival Warriors.

Their first meeting this season, is January 25th at Oracle Arena.

I don’t think it’s basketball. I think it’s kind of like a circus sort of thing. Why don’t we have a 5-point shot? A 7-point shot? You know, where does it stop, that sort of thing. But that’s just me, that’s just old-school. To a certain degree, you better embrace it or you’re going to lose. And every time we’ve won a championship, the 3-point shot was a big part of it. Because it is so powerful and you’ve got toa be able to do it. And nobody does it better than Golden State, and you know where they’re at. So it’s important. You can’t ignore it.
