Gregg Popovich Throws Shade at Steph Curry & LeBron James on Leadership

This was odd. . . . .

Earlier this week, Gregg Popovich took time from his behind-the-scenes role with the San Antonio Spurs to touch on how his team is reacting to year one of the post-Tim Duncan era. While we don’t expect the team to make a significant post-season run until this new look has another year under its belts, Pop wanted to single-handedly praise Kawhi Leonard for being a quiet leader of the respected NBA brand. He went to throw a few subtle shots at both LeBron James and Steph Curry, saying he loves how Leonard doesn’t beat his chest and wiggle his shoulders when having success.

Take a look at the comments below from Coach Pop below and let us know what you think of him calling out two of the best players in the league.

Coach Pop praising Captain Kawhi and throwing shade.

“He’s never going to be a towel waver. He speaks to me about things that he sees now. He comes into timeouts, if he’s not happy with what’s going on on the court. That’s all good. I’d rather have him do that than beat his chest and wiggle his shoulders and stare at the camera and all that other crap. That doesn’t seem to make much sense. I’d rather have it the other way and work on him to be a leader in the timeouts, in the locker room, on the plane. That kind of stuff.”
