Grizzlies Concerned Mike Conley Will Join the Knicks in Summer Free Agency

Is Mike Conley the missing piece for the Knicks?

After posing as the greatest threat to the defending Golden State Warriors last year, the Memphis Grizzlies had a complete turn-around season for the worst. Although they made the post-season last April, they were sent home early after an early sweep defeat to the San Antonio Spurs.

With an entirely new rookie coaching set in place for 2017, the team is growing some serious concert that their starting point-guard, Mike Conley, could part ways with them this summer.

Conley, who’s an unrestricted free-agent right now, is set to test the market next week. The Grizzlies currently have the option of offering him a five-year deal of $124 million, while other customers within the league would be able to give him a four-year maximum contract for $92 million.

According to ESPN’s Ian Begley, the New York Knicks are being reported as the most likely destination, which Phil Jackson is looking to pair him up with Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony. However, the $32 million difference of contracts and salary cap increase for 2017 will be a deciding factor if he wants to go long-term this summer or wait until next.

Let us know in the comments if you think Conley should stay or leave to another team.
