HBO Boxing: Donaire vs. Rigondeau | Tonight At 11

From Radio City Music Hall, We’ll See A Unification Of The WBO / WBA Super Bantamweight Titles.

Tonight HBO Boxing invades Radio City Music Hall with a main event featuring the number five pound-for-pound boxer Nonito Donaire, as he’ll be defending his WBO & The Ring Super Bantamweight titles against undefeated Guillermo Rigondeaux for his WBA Super Bantamweight title.

While Donaire has publicly came out saying he’s not impressed by Rigondeaux professional record thus far, gave each of his last 5 fighters their second career loss winning 8 of his 11 fights by KO. Guillermo’s known for his strong amateur career boxing background only turning pro just 4 years ago, so after tonight’s fight the boxing heads should know who he is. In 2012, Nonito was the consensus fighter of the year winning The Ring, WBO and IBF Super Bantamweight titles all in the same year.

It’s rare for an elite fighter to win four main event fights within a year’s span, but The Filipino Flash gained recognition around the boxing world for being a dedicated champion not fearing any opponents in his way. Some could agree with Guillermo complaining about The Jackal, Rigondeaux’s track record but he still holds the WBA super bantamweight title which has signifcane in the sport.

In the fight, we expect it to be close in the early rounds with Nonito finally figuring out Rigondeaux’s style in the later rounds with a potential K.O. but most likely a decision after the final bell. Both are true “Orthodox” styled fighters, but Donaire has the ability to switch to southpaw as well to his advantage which should cause confusion for Guillermo during tonight’s match.

Be sure to tune in tonight, as this fight emanates live from Radio City Music Hall, New York, New York. Watch Live On HBO at 11:00pm ET/PT.
