With a year off due to the 2011 NFL labor strife, the HBO series ‘Hard Knocks’ returns tonight as this year it features the Miami Dolphins. This marks the 7th installment of the series and first in which has the Dolphins as we got our usual behind the scenes access of team meetings, training sessions, practices and more. Miami’s had a facelift in the off-season with owner Stephen Ross bringing in an entire new coaching staff with first-time head coach Joe Philbin, offensive coordinator Mike Sherman and defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle.
Stephen Ross, who purchased the Dolphins for $1.55B in 2009 has made it very public he wants to turn the Dolphins into a entertainment franchise and what better way to generate a buzz by pairing with HBO for Hard Knocks. Ross, who’s making the right moves in order to fulfill his vision, faces fierce competition in the AFC East headlined by the Jets Tebow & Sanchez QB controversy as well as the defending AFC champion New England Patriots.
Along with the Reggie Bush and the return of personality for Chad Johnson, the Dolphins are currently having a three-man quarterback competition featuring last years QB Matt Moore, first-round draftee Ryan Tannehill and newly acquired veteran David Garrard. With Number 85 returning back to his old form, both on and off field and an entertaining QB race, this should keep viewers entertained until the season kicks off in three weeks.
Be sure to tune in tonight on HBO 10:00pm ET/PT.
