Roll Tide Sends Message To The Rest Of The Country With Win Over Michigan.
In first ever regular season meeting between No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide against No. 8 Michigan Wolverines, every college football head (my self included) thought this was gonna be the game of the day but we were sadly mistaken. The Crimson Tide who won last season’s BCS National Championship Game, came out like nothing changed immediately putting their name out there as possibly the team to beat in college football. Junior QB, AJ McCarron would lead the Tide down for a 61-yard drive highlighted by a play-action pass to DeAndrew White for the teams first score.
The Wolverines, who were without their star running back Fitz Toussaint (who had 1,000 yards last year) for the game due to a 1-game suspension for drunken-driving, struggled poorly in the first quarter to find any offense. On Bama’s next drive, AJ McCarron would test the secondary completing a 51-yard pass to WR DeAndrew White for another touchdown. Just shy under 3 minutes in only the first quarter, Michigan QB Denard Robinson would throw an interception with Dee Milliner returning it for 35 yards to the Wolverines 17 as they couldn’t find an offensive boost without McCarron playing.
Bama RB, Eddie Lacy would soon rush for a 9-yard touchdown putting the score at 21-0. Alabama who lost 7 players for this year, continued like they were the same no. 1 defense from last year as linebacker C.J. Mosley would intercept a pass from Denard Robinson (2nd IT of the game) getting the “pick 6”. The score was now 31-0 with just over 4 minutes remaining before the half. Michigan would try to make the game respectable at 34-14 via rushing TD by Denard Robinson and also completing a pass to Devin Gardner for a 44-yard touchdown. The Crimson Tide would score once more from freshman RB T.J. Yeldon as they rolled to a 41-14 victory.
The Crimson Tide now have the luxury of staying home for their next weekend game with Western Kentucky before they travel the following weekend to play the No. 10 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks. As for the Wolverines, this loss most likely eliminate their chances of a National Title bid as they won’t see anymore teams in the top 10 for the rest of the season.
