Crimson Tide Become A “Dynasty” Capturing Third BCS Title In Four Years With 42-14 Victory.
Monday night was the long awaited 2013 Discovery BCS National Championship Game that pitted the no. 1 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish facing no. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide. Before this game, nobody in the college football world wanted to see a blowout from either team but we would quickly see the Crimson Tide being too dominate all game.
Live from Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, Alabama was in their 2nd consecutive national championship game and third in four years as the Notre Dame was the first ever independent team to play in a title since the introduction of the BCS.
On the opening drive of the game, Alabama would come out with AJ McCarron and Eddie Lacy would leading the Tide to a quick touchdown highlighted by a 20-yard rush from Lacy capping off a 82-yard 3-minute drive. Notre Dame would fall victim to a quick three and out as Everett Golson would throw three consecutive incomplete passes.

Alabama would immediately try and set a cushion for themselves on the next ensuing possession as Eddie Lacy would rush for 41 total yards as AJ McCarron would complete his first touchdown pass of the game to Michael Williams to cap off a 61-yard drive.
Notre Dame would have the ball for the second time of the opening quarter as they would get their first 1st down of the game with a Cierre Wood rush. Everett Golson who struggled with the Tide’s secondary the entire game would ultimately throw two incompletes following the first down as they would have to punt once more.
Alabama would once again go for a score once more, but this time with T.J. Yeldon rushing for 19-total yards for the 80-yard drive to score the teams third TD of the game putting the score at 21-0. The Alabama defense would give up their first long-pass of the game as Everett Golson connected with DaVaris Daniels for 31, but the defense would for another punt. Notre Dame would get their stop of the game as Alabama finally didn’t score on their fourth possession of the game.
Before the end of the half, Alabama would further the gap between themselves with Notre Dame scoring their 4th touchdown of the game as AJ McCarron would complete an 11-yard TD pass to Eddie Lacy to finish off a three-minute, 71-yard drive.
Not to be discouraged by their 4-touchdown deficit, Everett Golson lead the fighting Irish down all the way to the Bama 36 before he was intercepted at the three yard line by Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix. The Tide would follow through with a touchdown as the two headed monster of Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon would rush for 38 combined yards highlighted by a 34-yard pass from AJ McCarron to Amari Cooper to push the score to a whopping 35-0.
On Notre Dame’s next ensuing drive they would get their first points of the game as Everett Golson would have his first successful possession of the night rushing for a 2-yard touchdown to finish off a 9 play 85-yard drive; but the air was already sucked out of the stadium from the Fighting Irish and their fans as the Crimson Tide were already seeing the crystal football nearing with only 16 minutes of gameplay left.
Both teams would score touchdowns to start the fourth quarter as the Tide would finish the game with a 42-14 victory.
Alabama now wins their 2nd straight BCS championship and third in four years as coach Nick Saban has officially been put in the elite level of all-time coaches leading the Crimson Tide to yet another BCS victory.
