Brooklyn Nets Rally Down 16 In 2nd Half To Upset Oklahoma City Thunder In 95-93 Win.
Normally, when you think of a basketball circus in the rotten apple, the Knicks are the first thought that comes to mind. That has definitely not been the case this year, as the Brooklyn Nets have officially became every NBA fan and team’s punching bag.
The Nets were expected to be one of the league’s best teams in the off-season acquiring Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and the hiring of Jason Kidd as the new head coach, but the team’s season ended last month when Brook Lopez broke his foot. While the team faces an imminent implosion from owner Mikhail Prokhorov, they had something to celebrate tonight.
Joe Johnson had his normal struggle game, going 4-11 from the field to finish with 9 points ((sorry, you’re better than that)), but would come up big in the team’s final possession. The Thunder dominated the game until midway past the 4th quarter, where they would go nearly 5 minutes without a single point. Brooklyn immediately seized the opportunity with Deron Williams and Paul Pierce leading the way in scoring. The game would soon be tied, as the Nets had one last chance to win the game in regulation. Joe Johnson would inbound the ball and get a switch off Durant to knock down a 19-foot game-winning jumper over Serge Ibaka.
The Thunder (more in particular Kevin Durant) saw their first game that Russell Westbrook was needed down the stretch, with guard Reggie Jackson going 4-13 from the field.
