Remember Kevin Ware? He was the Louisville player who suffered a very gruesome broken leg against Duke in last year’s NCAA Tournament. Now, 220 days after rehabilitation, he returns to the basketball court only days away from the season opener.
Imagine how much nervousness was lifted from his shoulders after stepping on to the court for the first time tonight? Especially when it happened ahead of schedule.
On his first shot back, Ware drained a three from the side, as the crowd in attendance jumped to their feet in celebration. He ended the game with six points and four rebounds in the Cardinals’ blowout victory over Pikeville. According to him, the only thing left is to get back in shape. Rick Pitino told ESPN Ware will suit up for Saturday’s opener against Charleston, but he wasn’t clear on how much playing time he would get.
One time for Kevin Ware and his unexpected comeback.
