Carmelo Anthony Only Scores 19 Points & Grabs 10 Boards In Big New York Knicks 113-83 Victory Over Brooklyn Nets.

Nobody needed a victory in sports more than the New York Knicks. Their head coach Mike Woodson is under the hot seat and would’ve most likely got fired following a defeat to the Brooklyn Nets tonight. Carmelo Anthony has been rumored to privately say he’s checked out on the Knicks season and is looking forward to move on during free agency, but he came out yesterday revealing there was no truth to those rumors.

Stephen A. Smith advised the Knicks to trade him before February’s deadline, which should give us an indication from the biggest ‘Melo supporter in the city, that there is some truth to the rumors. The Knicks had been called the “laughingstocks” of the league, but they finally had something to smile about tonight.

Last year, they opened the season with one of the league’s best records, because Carmelo was playing (initially) like an MVP.

He finally got help from the Knicks role players in the win against the Nets and they all combined for 16-27 from deep, allowing Melo to attack the rim going 8-12 from the floor to balance their offensive attack. The Knicks for once never trailed the entire game, leading by as many as 34 points, but would settle for a clean 30-point blowout victory across the east river.
