Carmelo Anthony Scores 29 Points In Big New York Knicks 102-92 Victory Over Miami Heat.
Thursday night, the New York Knickerbockers were host the world champion Miami Heat, in the first of their four meetings this year. Heading into the last night, the Knicks had one consecutive games; which is something they haven’t been accustomed to this season.
LeBron James would come out the gate scoring 11 points in the first quarter to give the Heat an early lead, but New York would have plenty of time to make up ground throughout the ground. Amar’e Stoudemire was one of the x-factors in this game, dominating the injury-plagued Heat to score 14 points (7 of 12) and grab 11 boards as well.
More highlights after the jump.
J.R. Smith was benched during regulation, due to his recent antics of untying opponents shoes in the middle of games; but New York found some production from Iman Shumpert, who hit 3 consecutive three-pointers during the early stages of the third quarter.
Shumpert would give New York momentum when they needed it most and take some pressure briefly off Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks just simply outhustled and most of all out play the Miami Heat for their 13 victory of the year. They’re now only one game out of playoffs standings, which the team should use this victory as added motivation for the season ahead.
LeBron James led all scorers with 32 points, but would see little production from his teammates with the exception of co-captain Dwyane Wade. Miami now heads across the East River for the 2nd night of a back-to-back tonight against the Brooklyn Nets.
