Giants Improve Their Record To 5-7 With 24-17 Victory Over Redskins. Washington’s Postseason Chances Over
After starting the season 0-6, the New York Giants won 4 consecutive games before their heartbreaker loss at home against Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys. For their 2nd straight NFC East rivalry game, they traveled to the DMV for a game against the Washington Redskins. For once this season, the NY Giants weren’t the target of criticism last night and came into tonight’s game level-headed. Robert Griffin III has been the constant target of media scrutiny after publicly blaming his team for a loss and not taking credit as the star of the team.
While he’s visibly still not back to his former elite form even in week 13, he’s still been trying to play through the pain. RG3 ironically had a better game than Eli Manning throwing for over 207 yards (no INTs) with a passer rating of 102, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Giants signature late heroics down the stretch. New York also saw a spike in their run production that had been lacking all season from Andre Brown and Peyton Hillis, which was enough to give their offense some balance. The Redskins opened the 3rd quarter with a FG, but in the 4th it was all the Giants Andre Brown scoring a rushing TD and Josh Brown chipping in a 39-yard FG.

The Giants close out their season against the Washington Redskins in week 17, but have tough matchups remaining against the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks. We’re not sure if they can beat both teams, but winning one would give them a better shot at sneaking into the playoffs.
