In a battle for Western Conference supremacy, the Oklahoma City Thunder visited the Houston Rockets for a rather bizzare matchup at the Toyota Center tonight.
Everything was looking splendid for the Rockets, led by the revengeful efforts of James Harden in the first half. He was throwing down tomahawk jams, shooting step-back three’s and helped Houston score a ridiculous 73 points BY HALFTIME. But that’s where the fun stopped. It’s like they stopped playing after the break.
Durant and company rallied back in the 3rd quarter, tying it up to 83 on a buzzer beating shot from downtown and swinging the momentum completely in their favor. In the 4th quarter, it was all Thunder. So much that they held the Rockets to a measly 19 points total in the second half, ultimately beating the hometown boys 104-92.
Kevin Durant ended with 36 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds for OKC, while Serge Ibaka held things down on both ends of the court, taking home 21 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. And this was all without Russell Westbrook, by the way.
The Houston Rockets set an NBA record for the most lopsided scoring in two halves.
