Highlight Of The Night: Packers Dominate Vikings For Easy Wild Card Victory

Green Bay Packs It Up To Frisco With Easy Win Over Short-Handed Vikings

In a rematch from the final week of the NFL regular season, the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers would play once more for the final time of the season this time however 2 hours before the game was set to go down, news broke that Vikings starting QB Christian Ponder would be inactive due elbow bursitis after being tested out in pre-game practices.

Backup QB, Joe Webb would immediately be activated for starting duties which would initially cause a ruckus in the sports world with many wondering if the Packers could be prepared for a different QB if he played up to standards.

On the opening drive, the Vikings would come out using their famous rush game led by the NFL’s best Adrian Peterson who would earn 33 yards on the opening drive. The Vikings would have to settle for a FG which would be their only score for the bulk of the game as Adrian would just add only 66 more yards to his opening drive.

The Vikings passing game would virtually become nonexistent as the Packers defense would solely focus on stopping the run game. With temperatures below 30 degrees at Lambeau Field, things would go bad for the shorthanded Vikings for the next 3 hours.

Before the conclusion of the first quarter, Aaron Rodgers would go on a series of no huddles gaining 73 quick yards in passes capped off by a 9-yard TD run up the middle from DuJuan Harris to give the team their first score of the game.

Skipping ahead to the 2nd, preceding a quick 3-and-out from the Vikings in their 2nd possession of the quarter, Aaron Rodgers would once run a series of no huddles once more as he would throw for over 72-yards as they would have to settle for a 20-yard FG after not completing a 3rd down conversion.

Minnesota would get another quick 3-and-out as Aaron Rodgers would lead his team on his third no-huddle point scoring drive of the game this time for 62 yards elapsing only a minute as he connected with John Kuhn for a touchdown pass to bring the score 17-3.

Jumping to the 2nd half, Aaron Rodgers would come out and finish the Vikings off with another slew of no huddles and cap off an 80-yard opening half drive with a touchdown pass to John Kuhn. The Vikings would score their first touchdown of the game as Joe Webb completing a 50-yard pass to Michael Jenkins but the game was over before it started.

The Packers now head to west to play the San Francisco 49ers in some warmer weather than we saw tonight. The 49ers won the regular season series as they defeated the Packers a 30-22 victory on opening week.
