Houston Rockets Land Ty Lawson in Trade with Denver Nuggets

James Harden finally gets his wish of a point-guard in Houston

With the exception of bench player Josh Smith, the Houston Rockets essentially have their exact playoff team returning – as well as the previously injured Patrick Beverley and Donatas Motiejunas back on the active roster. Tonight, the team has finally landed a much-needed starting point guard, with the acquisition of Ty Lawson.

Throughout the year, team captain James Harden had been vocal about the team adding ball handler to the team, since he plays the role of primary carrier and scorer. However, the veteran Lawson comes with a little baggage, which surprisingly most teams were looking past to sweep him away from the Denver Nuggets.

Last week, Ty was arrested for his second DUI of the year and immediately checked himself into the summer rehab. Denver receives back Kostas Papanikolaou, Pablo Prigioni, Joey Dorsey, Nick Johnson and a future first-round pick from Houston, in exchange for their 2017 second-round pick.
