Houston Texans Sign Brock Osweiler & Lamar Miller

Brock Osweiler

With Peyton Manning gone thanks to retirement, Brock Osweiler was in line to take over the starting quarterback in Denver for the Broncos. All he had to do was sign on the dotted line and slide into the position. In what is a curveball to “officially” start the NFL season, the former Denver backup is now taking his talents to the Houston Texans.

Adam Schefter reports the deal is worth $72 million over four years, with $37 million guaranteed.

Not only that, but Lamar Miller is also leaving his team, the Miami Dolphins, and headed to Houston to join Osweiler and the squad on a 4-year, $26 million dollar contract with $14 million guaranteed. Last season, Miller rushed for only 872 yards but did score 10 touchdowns.

These are two key signings for the Texans, who looked to improve on their horrific 2015-2016 season at the QB position, and add a running back after parting ways with Arian Foster.

With more moves yet to be made, the Texans are on the right path to the playoffs and might be a force to be reckoned with next season, especially with that killer defense led by J.J. Watt. If they can fill a few more holes on the team, watch out.
