21 arrests, pending investigations, felony charges, and burning couches was the scene of East Lansing just a few weeks ago as the Michigan State Spartans defeated Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship. What would you imagine a city to look like after the hometown college football team just won it’s first Rose Bowl in over 26 years?
Pretty crazy, right?
For East Lansing, that scenario became a reality on New Year’s day, as the Michigan State Spartans took down the Stanford Cardinals in the 100th Annual Rose Bowl.
It was only a few weeks ago that chaos took over the streets of mid-Michigan and became a trending topic on Twitter. This time around, it was relatively quiet.
Be it most of the campuses student population was not around due to the holidays, or a record breaking amount of alumni and fans took their talents to Pasadena to cheer on the Spartans. Or, the high temperatures of 8-degrees, or maybe it was local police using “felony charges” as a way to scare people from rioting.
Whatever the case may be, East Lansing may have been spread out nationally for the Rose Bowl, but Spartan Nation is nationwide.
