In a surprise move today sources say that the Indiana Pacers are signing free agent center Andrew Bynum. Bynum had been on the free agent market for a few weeks after he was traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Chicago Bulls and then cut. You may be wondering why the Pacers would want to add the often troubled Bynum to their roster, but it does really make sense for two reasons. First, they get a legit center to back up All-Star Roy Hibbert and they keep Bynum off the Miami Heat, who were said to be very interested in bringing him in.
There is obvious risks in bringing in a player like Bynum; but the Pacers are a legit contender and that is what Bynum was rumored to want to be a part of all along. If they can somehow get him to buy into their system and get any sort of productivity then the Pacers have a very good shot at winning a title.
