Jabari Parker Considering Staying At Duke For Sophomore Season

In a pretty stunning turn of events, sources tonight are reporting that standout Duke freshmen (and sure fire top-5 NBA prospect) Jabari Parker is considering staying in school another year. This news combined with the struggles of Andrew Wiggins have turned what was once thought as the strongest NBA draft since 2003, to a whole lot of question marks. Why would Jabari stay in school? Maybe because of his very good friend Jahlil Okafor is heading to the Durham next season and together they would be the ultimate force in college basketball.

There is no telling how concrete this report is or if Jabari has even made up his mind; but it will be something to watch as the year progresses. We have seen flashes of greatness from Parker this year, but he has also been up and down at times; so staying in school might just be the best thing for him to do.

And the growing view among NBA executives seems to be Jabari Parker will not leave Duke this year. Chicagoan Jahlil Okafor, a Parker friend and big man, is going to Duke next season. Parker is a bright young man with a strong family and the feeling is he understands both the importance of education and feels he owes Duke and the chance to have a great Duke team, which more than likely is the next two seasons. Plus, Parker has seen what staying in school has done for other greats compared with the tough starts for even stars like Kobe Bryant.
