After battling with a knee injury that kept lingering, the Houston Texans have decided to make the tough decision and place their No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, Jadeveon Clowney, on injury reserve. The move effectively ends his season, as he lines up another surgery on that right knee. The team was hoping he would be back during the final stretch of the season as they make a push for the playoffs, only adding a more dangerous unit to the already strong Houston defense.
Clowney was absent from the Texans lineup for about 8 games this season, but Bill O’Brien mentioned that playing in Week 12 did not worsen the knee, he just couldn’t play up to level.
The linebacker out of the University of South Carolina ends his rookie season with only 7 tackles and zero sacks.
