Get Well Soon Dante Fowler Jr.
The Jacksonville Jaguars started rookie minicamp today and suffered the worst news only one hour into their session. The No. 3 pick of this year’s NFL Draft, Dante Fowler Jr. out of Florida, went down with an apparent injury and was helped off the field. After conducting tests, it was determined the defensive end tore his ACL and will be out for the entire 2015 season.
It was a routine 11-on-11 drill, his knee buckled and fell to the ground while clutching his leg. He was able to put a little bit of weight on it at first, but was quickly carted off the field and to the locker room for x-rays.
Fowler was considered one of the best talents coming out of the draft and was supposed to be a day one starter for the Jags. Although their defensive line was solid (they ranked 6th last year in sacks), it won’t as huge a hit to the defense, but it will slow down his development.
We hope he has a speedy recovery.
