Jameis Winston Officially Enters 2015 NFL Draft

NCAA Football: Florida State-Spring Game

Top college prospect puts his name in the NFL draft hat

Following his birthday yesterday, Florida State QB, Jameis Winston has officially placed himself in the upcoming spring NFL 2015 Draft. The 21-year-old redshirt sophomore had very great success in his tenure with Florida State University, winning a national title and Heisman Trophy. Over the weekend, he suffered his first ever defeat on the team, in their unfortunate blowout loss to the Oregon Ducks. While FSU looked in shambles on multiple fumbles and turnovers, Winston was visibly trying to keep his team confident – even down 20 points.

His father, Antonor Winston revealed the plans to ESPN writer David M. Hale, his son would be leaving College Football. At the present, he’s currently ranked the second-best quarterback, behind current Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota and could potentially be the sixth player overall. Due to his off-field issues, Winston may be a huge gamble for some; but his on-field play is something many GMs and owners will take into consideration.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the number one overall pick, which would make sense for them to go forward with the hometown kid; but will have to really think about their decision until April 30th. Finishing 26-1, with a loss in his final game at the Rose Bowl last week, is something many quarterbacks will never go again; so he will go down as one of FSU’s top quarterbacks ever. Whether that transitions to the main stage of NFL play remains to be seen, his poise and it-factor during pivotal moments of big games will be must-watch football.
