Kidd, Hill Enter & Exit The League Together After 19 Seasons.
Saturday night before game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals, Grant Hill formally announced his retirement from the game of basketball citing at the age of 40, he was ready for the next chapter in his life. Coincidentally, Jason Kidd announced his retirement as well, which he became essentially a role player under the Mike Woodson for the Knicks visibly showing his age on the court.
Both players entered the league together in 1994 at the age of 21 to win the first ever co-MVP after their rookie years with both having future hall-of-fame aspirations. While Jason Kidd in our opinion was the best player in the league during both the 2002 and 2003 season leading the Nets to NBA consecutive years, he never got the recognition he deserved until he finally won a NBA title in 2011 with the Dallas Mavericks.
Grant Hill had potential to go down in the record books but four consecutive seasons of battling injuries plagued his career. Grant will still be a fan favorite and respected by most of his basketball peers as one of the best to ever lace up, and Kidd will be a first ballot hall-of-fame player in the near future.
We send kudos to both Kidd and Hill for all of the years of sharing their insightful IQ of basketball knowledge to not only their teammates, but we as the fans.
