The Jerry West era in Oakland is officially over because the Hall of Fame executive is taking his talents down south and joining the Los Angeles Clippers for an advisory role with the team.
The contract has not yet been inked, but he told ESPN that he knew his tenure with the Golden State Warriors was over on Monday when they won the NBA Championship. He was upset he was leaving the organization because of the respect he has for them, but he knew he was leaving. Although he didn’t know where he was going next, he just needs a new challenge and the Clips seem to be that for him.
The other Los Angeles team needs all the help they can get and if West can cook up any of that magic he had with the Lakers and Warriors, the Clippers should be reaching the Western Conference Finals soon enough. The big question for him coming up, is will he keep Blake Griffin? Will he pay Chris Paul? How different will the team look next year?
